When the hard rains come, the power lines will drown, the certain things will melt away, and the people will live in waterproof houses, like goldfish.
When the hard rains come, I will burn my umbrella, I will let down my hair, I will find the biggest puddles.
When the hard rains come, I will open all the windows, I will let all the clocks fly out, I will set the houseplants free, I will give my clothes to charity and run outside in my swimsuit, and a t-shirt that will soak and stick to my skin, wet and enveloping (and I will think, this is my underwater dress).
When the hard rains come, I will come to your house, I will put poems in your mailbox, I will paint fish on your windows, I will dance in the street, I will sing anthems until you open your door.
When the hard rains come, we will float like astronauts, we will invent a hundred new rain dances, we will open every quiet place, to be filled with rain.
